2 thoughts on “What to Look for in a Sleeping Bag

  1. I have a Stevenson Warmlite bag, bought in 1975 or so. It is in near perfect condition. What are the 2 layers of down rated at? I will be sleeping outside in 40-45 degree F. weather. Thanks.

    1. Great question. Each persons comfort level is different so this is just a general rule of thumb. Using your Warmlite bag in time you will find your exact comfort level.
Above 32 degree’s F = Use the bottom and only the thin top
      0 – 32 degree’s F = Use the bottom and only the thick top
Below 0 degree’s F = Use the bottom and both the thin & thick top

At the bottom of your Warmlite bag is a foot zipper, this can be kept closed or zipped open depending if you sleep with warm or cold feet.
There should be extra length at the bottom of your Warmlite bag, this area can be used to store your boots in bitter cold or keep your water bottle from freezing overnight or anything you prefer to stay warm for morning use.

Hope this helps & happy trails to you! Kim
